Time to go in...

Wah, finally my turn liao. To serve the National Service...
Can't believe I haven't update here for long long time.

It's tough to imagine how things would be. But nice change.

Nothing much to do these days anyway. Work seems tough to find even. Really nice to see the IBP films on Projections 08. It's much more interesting than i expected, seems like KINO is something for you guys to be proud of.

Damn excited and damn anxious. Hopefully turns out for the best.

I'm Updating quite little recently

Have been pretty busy with shoot and all for outside. But I don't know what to do with the rest of my life. Seriously. Need to figure out.

I'm Updating quite abit.

I notice recently updating quite abit. Maybe due to the fact that I have more thoughts pouring in as Poly draws to an end.

Was talking to a friend of mine about the future, like what am I going to do after school. My answer for now is pretty easy because I can always say, ARMY.

But then they continue by asking, what about after that?

That's a little tougher to answer. I think at this point I have to realize that I might go a route that I have sometimes mocked at, doing a admin job, working somewhere at Raffles Place (considering if I am even lucky).

It's weird for me to consider what I truly want to do, seeing how it' s like beginning of your full time working life. The fact that my father just retired does not help seeing how long it would take me to get to that point.

I want to mature, grow up, be reliable, handle my CPF, know how my Medishield works, pay the water bills and all that. But still I can't see myself doing all that.

But another part of me, just wish to make films that people also want to make. Together. At least for now.

I seriously don't know how things will turn out. Check back with me in 5 years.

As you grow older but not wiser...

As you grow you realize a couple of thing:

- Good looking people go damn far in life even if their attitude sucks.

- Life is as uncertain as you and me, it's never not fair or fair. It just is.

-The importance of going with the flow.

-If you think it's like in the movies where the guy that does not get the girl he liked because he lost to the other guy and by some miracle they end up together because they were meant for each other. (switch sexes where applicable) It is seriously mistaken.

-You can never truly be right.

- Friends are people there at the right place at the right time.

-Falling in love is also the same thing

Taking that trip around

It's interesting to note the amount of effect some people could have on other people's lives without knowing it.
One prime example would be, liking a person.
The person you like affects the way you behave, dress and think for at least around this person. And later in your life, depending on the overall experience with this person, it leaves your personal impression of the person which tends to also affect your impression of other people that are similar to this individual.

I read a friend's blog of mine, who said it was weird why guys and girls talk differently when they are writing online or reflecting on blogs such as this.

One thought comes to mind is that, for me at least, is the fact that I have more time to think about my response and opinions. In simple terms is about being more clear minded. Whereas when I am caught up in a vocal conversation, I might go with more of my feelings then compared to being more reflective.

Whereas for girls I guess they are able to process and come up with their opinions pretty much what they think of the subject matter than and there.

Being caught up in the moment. That's basically how it goes, causing us to either feel stupid or regret later.

Filling in the spaces.

The world gets more ambigious as we get older. Life is a damn funny thing, when you are young and full of energy, you are spending time figuring out things and learning from mistakes. But when you become older, things become more clear, you are too old and exhausted to do anything about it. Strange way of balancing itself out.

Waking up in the morning, hearing my grandmother shouting at me to get up. Walking groggily to the toilet, noticing my brother faithfully sitting in his chair as he studies his books. The smell of colgate and frying from the kitchen as my grandmother is cooking. Looking out the window as the irritating sun shines on the recently washed clothing. I look at the Biopolis buildings as another day starts.

Even if yesterday, today, tomorrow suck, there's always this worth remembering.

You're right Zong Hui, The Calling "Our Lives" made sense to me.

2008

Wah seh I really didn' t think I was going to really touch this blog today. It's my last year of poly and now remembering my first entry of this blog it was pretty naive of me back then to think the way I did.

As people we grow older but we not necessarily get any wiser. Thinking about the fact that we would learn more things from the experiences we have gained actually really depends. On attitude, approach and way of thinking basically.

In 2008 I think is going to be a tough but exciting year. Things haven;t been easy for me lately but it's great to know that I have the life I have now because I would not have wanted to be any other way.

People die, live, breakup, get attached, lose contact and so on. The only true thing you can expect from life is that you can never expect what is going to come next. Appreciate the process as we strive to achieve the end result.

Seeing things happen as life past by, this is all we do. And then at the end we have a funeral with video playing of how our life had passed. I think it's weird how the sum of our life at the end is how we affect others.

We are the sum of our experiences. We are the children of our parents. And we are going to make each day worth living.

Epiphany

Its interesting how everything arrives to a certain point for some people, kind of like an ultimatum for yourself. Sometimes I find myself thinking that "everything happens for a reason" in a sense of comfort for the mind but recently I found that it's actually abuse of that phrase.
To focus on things that make you comfortable makes u safe, which in turn makes u scared of failing and in turn make you not take risks.
Failing makes you question oneself whether anot what you did was wrong? But it is good naturally because they say through failure comes greater success.
BUT THE THING IS that if you scared in failing one thing it transcends to all aspects of your life.
Take for an example a kid at school scared of failing maths to disappoint his parents, it becomes he scared to make friends maybe because he scared they turn out not to be what he expects, and in turn becomes a vicious cycle to alot of aspects of his life. That's how I feel but not nesscessarily affects everyone the same way. Doubt actually enforces your beliefs and if it does not means your beliefs are constantly changing as you do a person.
Same for a drug addict, he is an addict because he does not question himself enough, if he did would he not see the destruction he is doing to himself?
But then again all of these statements are flawed in itself.

Ken's Song

I found this great comic called Ken's Song in my school library, apparently it's kind of like a sequel to Wake Up Your Ideas which i bought years ago. It is a great local comic that follows a man's life through NS and post NS. I don't know if there is anymore of this author's comic but what i see here so far is pretty cool. This was both published around 1992 i think.

Ed the Clown

WOW, I just read this amazing comic series by Chester Brown called Ed the Clown. Amazingly freaky, fun, touching, stupid and funny. Check this out if you can. Seriously.

1988

This Little boy here found its way into my sketches. Kids are really great, especially after that day going with Kaixiang on his photoshoot for Kindergarten and preschool kids for their graduation.

The teachers were really really loud. Fierce that kind of loud.

Alot of that reminded amazingly of the day I had to get my pictures taken for my kindergarten or primary school. It was really really bad experience back then. I am glad Kaixiang at least try to make it easier for them.

It's amazing to look at the kids and realize the things they would or might have to go through to get to your age. As great or horrible the experiences might be I would not want to repeat it if I do not have to.

But it was worth it.

drawing female faces again

Drawing female faces again. Must focus on delicate details more sia.
I am trying to focus on a realistic female and not over the top FHM style features. Tough to shift the focus i tell you.

WOW its been long

To those who still read it has been one heck of a half of semester. I learnt more in this semester than I have for any others.

The picture above is from my Advanced Film Production shoot where we shot on film! For me it is a first since the bolex shoot in drama. It was damn tiring man with measuring distances, lighting, blocking and what not. But the film came out as it is and I am happy with what came out but felt alot of stuff can be improved. It was what it was.

The picture to the left is Jowell being Jowell on our reckey for our Documentary Production Shoot. We found an interesting antique shop, therefore from our initial idea of interviewing a toy store owner, it turned to interviewing this antique shop owner.

Interesting and efficient shoot. Fastest one I ever been on.

Came out quite good, kudos to Jeff and Jowell for POst production, I was useless.

The third shoot of mine I do not really have a picture of, because it's with Terence. But we did have to also help out the other team on the same project they helped us and here is a group picture of us. The footage Faried came out with was excellent and we all got Burned for it. I look like char siew man. It was a tiring shoot but I was glad to have crewed on it.

So it is 3 projects down and another 3 to go. Once those 3 are done its over. WOW what a semester.

New school year but everything seems so old...

New school year and all and left half a year to studying, so weird to return without seeing so many of the familiar faces.

Without seeing Kaixiang and Sean at the FCP room figuring out to export and cursing as if there is no tomorrow.

Not seeing Yvonne and Krystal in the Production Planning room rushing their budget like crazy.

Not seeing Zong Hui in the CG room doing models of private parts.

Not seeing Hazman working out in the gym in his lunch hours.

Not seeing eric going around photographing plants in the weirdest positions possible and constantly reminding me about "feeling".

Not seeing Kwangwei or Yvonne in the Matrox rushing an edit but having totally different expressions on their faces.

Not seeing Kesong hanging around the cage waiting while showing off how his biceps have developed.

And so many other people that are having their presence gone from the block.

Just weird to walk around.

Anyway I cannot put back the tagboard for some reason. Anything just comment.

Seeya arnd.
